Stuck in the Mud!

Sister Graham and I received a referral from another set of missionaries for a girl a couple of years older than us named Angela.  We were so excited since we had been praying for a new investigator because we don't have a lot of time to spend in our proselyting area.  We met her that night and she let us right in and we had a great lesson with her and connected instantly.  We set up a time for her to come to the Hill Cumorah to watch a movie and take a tour with us the next day.  When the time came for our tour appointment, we got a text from her devastated that her boyfriend had just broken up with her, so she couldn't come.  After consoling her, sharing scriptures and a mini-lesson via text (using technology for missionary work is awesome!), we set up an appointment for a couple of days later.

When we went over for our appointment a couple of days later, no one answered the door . . . great.  Because of how cold it was outside (the temperature that day had dropped down a lot so it was quite cold), I didn't want my companion to have to stand outside to help me back in the car.  So there was an open grass area on the opposite side of Angela's place that I could just swing the car around on (we parked on the side of the road).  No big deal, it's typical in Western New York to park on grass areas.  So as we started to turn around on the grass, our car on the front right side drops down.  We were stuck in six inches of mud!  We were so deep in mud that we couldn't even get a piece of cardboard underneath to get it out.  So it was time for me to get down and dirty in the mud and dig us out!

Here's a video of it:  https://www.dropbox.com/s/cq8153ys66mtgps/Mud.MOV

After unsuccessful digging, we decided to pray.  Right after we finished praying, Sister Graham say Angela's front porch light turn on.  We knew someone had to be home.  Angela's boyfriend was in the show when we had knocked the first time (Angela still wasn't home :()  so he didn't hear us knock.  We quickly told him about our car situation and after putting on a shirt (in this part of New York no male ever seems to have a shirt on when they answer the door) he came to our rescue with a truck and a chain to pull us out.
After the "mud incident"
To thank him we baked a plate of brownies and, because they weren't home, dropped that off along with a pamphlet for both of them at the door.  Later we got a text from Angela thanking us for the brownies and pamphlet, and described how much she loved the pamphlet.  We were able to set up another appointment and started arranging how we could help her move out of her boyfriend's place (everything seemed to be falling into place for her).  On our way . . . let me repeat, ON OUR WAY to our appointment the very next day, Angela texted us to say "Sorry I can't meet with you right now.  I am moving to Arizona with him."  "Him" as in the boyfriend she had broken up with a few days before!  They moved to ARIZONA that very night!!! What the heck!  All I have to say is, I'm thankful we have mission Facebooks so we can keep in contact and teach people who move away in the night, and we can have missionaries contact and teach them there.
